On October 29, 2026, the Ministry of Energy (“SENER”) published in the Federal Official Gazette the decree issuing the fourth amendment (the “Amending Decree”) to the decree issuing the Call for Proposals for Strategic Power Generation and Storage Projects aligned with Binding Planning (the “Call for Proposals”), originally published on May 15, 2026 (available here), and subsequently amended on May 26, July 10, and September 2, 2026.
The Amending Decree extends the deadline for registering the expression of interest and requesting interconnection and connection studies applicable to Battery Energy Storage Systems. In particular, such deadline, which was originally set to expire on October 30, 2026, is extended to March 1, 2027.
By way of context, the Call for Proposals established a priority review mechanism for permit applications submitted to the National Energy Commission and interconnection study requests before the National Energy Control Center for renewable energy projects or stand-alone energy storage systems of at least 0.7 MW, in partnership with the Federal Electricity Commission under mixed development schemes. Previous amendments extended the registration deadlines and adjusted the procedure set forth in the Call for Proposals in general.
