Bernardo Escobar

Associate since 2026

Bernardo has experience in tax advisory and tax litigation, advising domestic and multinational companies, as well as individuals, on federal tax matters. His practice includes assisting clients throughout audits conducted by Mexican authorities, as well as representing them through the various available legal remedies.

He has also participated in the planning and implementation of restructurings across various industries, evaluating structures in different jurisdictions, transfer pricing matters, and risks involving related parties. His work focuses on designing strategic alternatives to optimize clients’ tax burden and strengthen the protection of their assets.

Prior to joining Mijares, Bernardo worked as a law clerk at Turanzas, Bravo & Ambrosi, S.C.

Since 2023, he has been a member of the National Association of Corporate Attorneys (ANADE).

ijares advises Televisa-Fintech Holdings consortium on US$2 billion acquisition of AT&T Mexico
The transaction involves the acquisition of AT&T’s wireless telecommunications business in Mexico, as well as the related financing. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.

Mexican Labor Legislative Initiatives
Mexico’s labor legislative agenda continues to move forward at a significant pace. During September 2026, 56 labor reform bills were introduced before Congress, bringing the current LXVI Legislature of the Congress of the Union to more than 550 labor-related proposals to date. The main topics addressed during the month include the regulation of overtime, the implementation of the gradual reduction of the workweek, the effective use of vacation days, pay transparency, and the impact of artificial intelligence on employment.

CNE Amends the Decree that establishes the Transmission Methodology applicable to permit holders under the Public Electricity Service Law
On September 30, 2026, the National Energy Commission (“CNE”) published in the Federal Official Gazette a decree amending (the “Amending Decree”) the decree establishing the methodology for determining the charge applicable to the electricity transmission service provided by suppliers to permit holders with electricity generation facilities under the Public Electricity Service Law, published on June 18, 2026 (the “Original Decree”).
